LifeScience Alley® announced today that 10 life science organizations will be exhibiting cutting-edge technologies at the association’s Annual Conference & Expo as part of the New Technology Showcase. Three of the 10 selected organizations will be presenting their technologies during the luncheon general session in front of an anticipated 1,600+ national and international life science professionals. The Conference & Expo will take place on Dec. 8 in Minneapolis, Minn.

“Identifying and highlighting breakthrough technology is important to driving the life science industry. The New Technology showcase does just that by providing emerging and established companies an opportunity to introduce their most innovative products and therapies to other members of the life science community and key decision makers”

During the luncheon general session, Diabetes Sentry Products of Orono, Minn., will be presenting a medical device that can detect perspiration and temperature drop, two symptoms of hypoglycemia in persons with diabetes. LifeServe Innovations, a Bethlehem, Pa., company will be presenting a dynamic set of new products for emergency and non-emergency percutaneous airway procedures, and Rapid Diagnostek of Hudson, Wis., will be presenting a patented biosensor platform offering rapid, high sensitivity diagnostic results.

These organizations will be joined in the New Technology Showcase exhibit area, located in the heart of the exhibit hall, by the other seven finalists: Fluence Therapeutics Inc., an Akron, Ohio company exhibiting a photodynamic therapy or the treatment of psoriasis and other skin diseases; OrthoCor Medical, a Minneapolis, Minn., company exhibiting the OrthoCor Active Knee System; Innovative Surface Technologies, Inc. (ISurTec®), a Saint Paul, Minn., company exhibiting primers for silicone rubber surfaces; MedInvent LLC, a Saint Paul, Minn., company exhibiting a nasal nebulizer for chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, allergic rhinitis, and other indications; Pursuit Vascular, a Blaine, Minn., company exhibiting a medical device used to reduce catheter related bloodstream infections; Powerscope, Inc., a Minneapolis, Minn., company exhibiting new technology for delivering aerosolized drugs and characterizing inhalers; and GeaCom, Inc., a Duluth, Minn., company exhibiting a multilingual medical communication system. These seven companies will also be presenting in the Spotlight Theater throughout the day, a new addition to the exhibit hall.

The New Technology Showcase, sponsored by Boston Scientific for the fifth consecutive year, provides an opportunity for companies around the world to send in applications to exhibit technologies representing medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and health care delivery.

Steve Mertens, sr. vice president of research and development with the cardiovascular division at Boston Scientific, and current chair of the LifeScience Alley board of directors, asserts “Identifying and highlighting breakthrough technology is important to driving the life science industry. The New Technology showcase does just that by providing emerging and established companies an opportunity to introduce their most innovative products and therapies to other members of the life science community and key decision makers”.
