PEMF Patient Spotlight: Thomas from California

Q: When did your knee pain start?

A: I had an OATS (Osteochondral Allograft Transplant Surgery) procedure performed a little less than a year ago. With this surgery there has been a lot of inflammation, and the pain is mainly due to that inflammation. I just started using the OrthoCor System about a month and a half ago about 6 weeks.

Q: What did you previously use to treat the pain?
A: My previous protocol has been icing my knee a handful of times throughout the day and using a lot of NSAIDS usually about 1500-2400mg of ibuprofen. I was looking for an alternative to the drugs just because I was not happy with what I was doing to my system – the liver and kidney and the implications down the road. So a friend turned me on to the OrthoCor System. I pretty much wanted to try anything else other than prescription and medications.

Q: How has the pain affected your daily life?
A: When you’re in pain, you’re just not a very happy person and not much like yourself. I am a strength conditions coordinator at my school. With that job its imperative not only to be on my feet and coach but I’m also able to demonstrate the exercises that I’m prescribing for my athletes. A lot of power exercises that I was not able to before I can do now. That was really helpful for my occupation and peace of mind as well.

Q: How has the Active Knee System helped you?
A: I’ve noticed that since I have been using this system there has been a decrease in my inflammation. I have been able to do a lot more things and just felt happier with the quality of my living. It took me probably about a week before I noticed a significant difference.
